The Nick Curriculum: 8th Grade

The 30-week program centers on understanding, committing to and exemplifying all 9 character words.  Honesty and openness are encouraged in class as the students journal, come to know each other in conversation. Eighth grade students consider what they value and commit to the principles they identify as essential to character. The year-end essay, which students submit for consideration for the Nicholas C. Forstmann Memorial Scholarship, focuses on the student’s experience, growth over the year and vision of how they intend to exemplify and sustain their commitment to character.

“Integrity can mean many things to me but it means being yourself and valuing your morals and who you are as a person. My sense of character will help me make good choices because I will make honest choices. I make the choices as myself and as the person I am called to be.” - Student from Washington Heights, NYC
